ORLANDO, Fla. -- Edward Mina, the brother of Orlando Police Chief John Mina, did not move forward with a bond hearing Thursday amid child sexual abuse charges.

His attorney said they are no longer asking for a bond and instead set a date for trial, which is set for Tuesday, Aug. 7.

Mina was arrested a few weeks ago, after a juvenile came forward to a school resource officer claiming that Mina had sexually abused them on an almost daily basis for three years.

A judge denied bond for two charges of sexual battery on a child under the age of 12, and Mina will remain in jail on those charges.

A judge also ordered Mina not to have any contact with the child involved, or their family, any contact with a child under 18, and cannot possess drugs, alcohol or firearms.

Mina will remain in the Orange County Jail.
