ICON Park, located along International Drive in Orlando, announced Thursday it would be adding a game called Bullseye Blast to The Wheel ride – the park’s 400-foot tall Ferris wheel. The game is described as a competition for riders to use laser blasters to hit targets placed around Orlando that can be seen from the ride.

When ICON Park announced the game online, it was quickly met with controversy on social media.

"Some non-guests and community members expressed that they considered the toy shooting device used to be insensitive. The attractions industry has many similar games which use similar shooting devices, so that is what we were limited to when exploring the game," said the park in a press release. "However, we believe that a device can and should be designed which does not offend anyone in the community. We look forward to leading this new innovation."

The park also said that they will pause the current production of the game and pursue a new design that "will deliver the same level of customized fun for guests, in a way that the entire community can embrace."

Information about the game has since been taken off the park's website as well as their social media pages.
