Central Floridians can choose from a multitude of options to observe the Independence Day weekend — ranging from theme park events and special presentations at some local resorts, to community-based celebrations.

Events are spread throughout the weekend so they can even go to multiple events.

For Central Floridians looking for a free city or county celebration, the following are some of the organized events. With Central Florida's typically unpredictable weather during the summer, the timing of some events could shift and others might have to be canceled or rescheduled.

Brevard County

Palm Bay

The City of Palm Bay’s Annual Independence Day Celebration gets the party started early with food trucks, vendors, live music and a kids zone with free inflatables, games, and face painting starting at 5 p.m. EDT Saturday at the Palm Bay campus of Eastern Florida State College (250 Community College Pkwy SE). Blue Stone Circle will perform music. Fireworks will cap off the event, starting at about 9:15 p.m.

Flagler County

Palm Coast

The Fireworks over the Runway festivities will take off at 4 p.m. EDT Sunday at the Flagler Executive Airport (201 Airport Road, Palm Coast). The all-American celebration will include performances by Chillula and Feedback the Band and food and drink vendors. At 7 p.m., an Independence Day ceremony on the main stage includes the Presentation of Colors by the Palm Coast Fire Department Honor Guard, the national anthem performed by Melanie DiMartino, the reading of the Declaration of Independence by local elected officials and a veterans welcome by state Rep. Paul Renner. Fireworks produced by Santore will be set off at 9 p.m. Parking is available at Flagler Palm Coast High School (5500 State Road 100 East) and at the airport, where drivers must enter via Airport Road or Aviation Drive. For fireworks only, grass and asphalt turf parking is available at Fin Way.

Lake County

Clermont

Clermont’s Red, White & BOOM!, will light up Waterfront Park (330 3rd St.) from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. EDT Monday. Activities include food trucks, a pie-eating contest for some sweet competition, a patriotic outfit contest, an artistic interpretative display honoring the American flag and music by The Actual Bank Robbers. The band will take the Highlander stage at 7:20 and 8:45 p.m., and a fireworks display at 9:15 p.m. will round out the evening.

Mount Dora

The Freedom on the Waterfront Independence Day Celebration gets festivities underway a day early, at 4 p.m. EDT Sunday, with a kids zone with lots of fun activities, food trucks and beverages at Gilbert Park until 7 p.m. Bailey Callahan as well as a performance by the Red Mint Band will perform starting at 5 p.m. at Elizabeth Evans Park (100 South Donnelly St.), and fireworks will launch over the water at Evans Park at 9:15 p.m. Handicapped parking will be available in the lower-level parking garage. Shuttles will run from the First Baptist Church Mount Dora (1000 East 1st Ave.).

Tavares

The city’s July 4 bash falls in line a with street party on Main Street starting at 4:45 p.m. EDT Monday, followed by a seaplane flyover and then an Independence Day parade starting at 5 p.m. Food trucks and other vendors will be available, and children’s activities and an interactive kids dance party with interactive DJ Live begin at 6 p.m. in Tavares Square. The party on the main stage at Wooten Park will feature Slickwood starting at 6 p.m., and fireworks are set for 9 p.m. Free parking is available in the parking garage (200 N. Sinclair Ave.).

Orange County

Apopka

Festivities for the city will be centered around the Apopka Amphitheater (3710 Jason Dwelley Parkway) starting at 6 p.m. EDT Monday. Activities will include food vendors, face painting, balloon artistry, tower climbing, bounce houses and a bungee trampoline. Musical entertainment by the C'Nergy Band will start about 7 p.m., and fireworks start at 9 p.m.

Orlando

The 45th Annual Fireworks at the Fountain festivities will begin at 4 p.m. EDT Monday at Lake Eola Park. Live entertainment, family activities and food vendors around the lake will get the celebration geared up. At 9:15 p.m., the sky will illuminate with fireworks finale set to a live patriotic performance by the Orlando Concert Band. Parking is available in garages and surface lots downtown. The free downtown LYMMO circulator will transport people who park in lots other than the Library Garage on Central Avenue.

Winter Park

The city’s 4th of July celebration kicks off at 9 a.m. EDT at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Park Community Playground (255 South Denning Drive)and will wrap up in time for you to catch fireworks at the spot of your choice. Free cookies, mini pies, Kona Ice® and water will be available while supplies last. The kids zone will feature carnival midway games, bounce slide, face painting and crafts. The Bach Festival Brass Ensemble and Choir will perform at the Winter Park Events Center Belvedere, and Just Imagin3 will take the stage at the Winter Park Events Center Tiedtke Amphitheater. A bicycle parade will begin at 11:30 a.m. Children can bring their bicycles already decorated or decorate them under the Porte Cochère at the Events Center. In addition, the Morse Museum of American Art (445 North Park Ave.) is offering free admission from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Seminole County

Altamonte Springs

Red Hot & Boom will celebrate its 25th anniversary as well as Independence Day on Sunday. The event, one of Florida’s largest for the holiday weekend, packs food vendors around Cranes Roost Park and attracts a lineup of musical artists who perform on a floating stage starting at 4 p.m. EDT. Performers are expected to include Em Beihold, Sofia Carson, JVKE, Leah Kate, Emmy Meli, Alyssa Raghu, The Walters  and Nicky Youre but are subject to change. All that fun comes before the fireworks on and over Cranes Roost Lake beginning at 9:30 p.m., which this year will last for 25 minutes in honor of the event’s anniversary.

Sanford

Star Spangled Sanford on the Riverwalk officially gets underway at 7 p.m. EDT Monday with food and merchandise vendors and live entertainment on Seminole Boulevard between Palmetto Avenue and Mellonville Avenue. Kids zone activities will take place on the playground and splash pad (until sunset). Revelers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets so they will be comfortable while watching the pyrotechnics show choreographed to patriotic music over Lake Monroe starting at 9:15 p.m.

Winter Springs

Central Winds Park will host the Celebration of Freedom from 5 to 9:30 p.m. EDT Monday, featuring live music and entertainment, local food trucks and vendors, and fireworks. Activities for children are the Red White and Bounce Zone, face painting, a water balloon toss and character meet and greets. Bailey Callahan and Neon Drifters will provide musical entertainment from 5:30-8 p.m. The fireworks spectacular will light up the park starting at 9:10 p.m.

Osceola County

Kissimmee

Third Annual Fourth of July Celebration will feature free live music with the Occasional Astronauts on the Main Street stage from noon to 4 p.m. EDT and RockTown from 6-10 p.m. in the Old Town Entertainment District. Fireworks will light up the night sky in the South Entertainment area of Old Town, behind the Hurricane Rollercoaster, at 9 p.m.

The city’s Monumental Fourth of July starts Monday at 5 p.m. EDT on the festival lawn at Kissimmee Lakefront Park (69 Lakeview Drive). The festivities include live performances by Sister Hazel & local Orlando-based band Soul Switch on the Veterans Lawn, a kids zone on the Festival Lawn, food trucks and beverage concessions. Fireworks will close out the night starting about 9 p.m. General parking available in the County, Toho, and Intermodal parking garages as well as the County and Civic Center surface lots, with handicapped parking in the Marina Lots and American Legion lot

Volusia County

Daytona Beach

The second annual Fourth of July Veterans Parade will step off on Main Street at 10 a.m. EDT Monday and pay tribute to veterans and first responders.  Organized by the Marine Corps League Daytona, the parade’s lineup will feature nearly 30 local military organizations, combat veterans and the city’s police and fire departments.

The city’s July 4 celebration will be spread out Friday through Monday. The Daytona Beach Bandshell, located on the north end of the Boardwalk amusement area overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, will host four concerts – The Boss Project (a Bruce Springsteen tribute) on Friday, Boxers and Southern Cross (Simon & Garfunkel and Crosby Still Nash and Young tributes) on Saturday, US Bee Gees (a Bee Gees tribute) on Sunday and Alter Eagles (an Eagles tribute) on Monday. Fireworks are scheduled after the Saturday and Monday concerts at 9:45 p.m. EDT. General admission is free, but VIP reserved tickets are available for $10 each night. Fireworks also will be featured for patrons who attend the Daytona Tortugas game against the St. Lucie Mets in a Florida State League game on Monday and after the Daytona Soccerfest game at Daytona International Speedway between the Orlando Pride and Racing Louisville FC on Sunday, but those events require paid admission.

Edgewater

EDGEfest 4th of July Celebration will bring together families and friends for live music, food (including a beer garden at the City Hall complex), vendors and a fireworks spectacular show by Zambelli Fireworks. The celebration starts at 6 p.m. EDT at George R. Kennedy Memorial Park (103 North Riverside Drive) and Menard May Park (413 South Riverside Drive). The fireworks will begin at dusk. Public parking lots will be open at Park Avenue and Wilkinson Street, Edgewater – New Smyrna Cemetery  (700 South Ridgewood Avenue), Edgewater United Methodist Church (211 North Ridgewood Avenue), corner of U.S. Highway 1 and Lamont Street (106 Lamont Street) and Park Avenue (north and south sides) east of U.S. 1 to Park Place (handicapped only).

Ponce Inlet

This year’s Ponce Inlet and Museum Fourth of July celebration will add a musical performance by Lucy and the Ladies of Lighthouse, who will sing patriotic favorites during the day inside the landmark. Visitors also can climb the tower’s 203 steps and take part in presentations, workshops and kid’s crafts. At 1 p.m. EDT, lighthouse docent John Mann will discuss Alexander Hamilton, known as the Father of American Lighthouses. Regular admission fees will be charged.

Port Orange

City Center Park will host a 4th of July Spectacular from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. EDT with the live band Chrome 57’, food trucks, a corn hole tournament and a kids zone. Fireworks will be set off at 9 p.m.
