ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Orange County Sheriff’s Office unveiled a new "Mobile Video Game Theater" on Saturday as a way for deputies to spend time with the youth in the community. It aims to be a new tool for community policing across the county.

Deputies will drive the new "community relations tool" around the county, making stops in various neighborhoods where kids can play and interact with them. The mobile theater can fit 44 players at once.

“The curiosity is gonna be piqued. Obviously the kids are gonna wanna play it, but what we’re hoping is that leads to other conversations with law enforcement like what we really do, what our job really is and you know it’s just an effort to continue to build trust in our community,” said Sheriff John Mina.

Saturday’s unveiling brought out families and kids like Brady Rosado, 10, who enjoyed playing football on the big screen. It’s an unusual event, he admitted, sitting among law enforcement playing games.

“I never thought they would play video games,” Rosado shrugged.

Sheriff Mina said this new initiative is being paid for by funds his office has which are allotted to community relations projects.
