Generations of women and men are rallying to protect reproductive rights and they are taking action this weekend.

What You Need To Know

Hundreds of rallies are being held across the country on Saturday for a day of action. Local events in Kissimmee, Clermont, and Orlando will align with a large Women’s March in the nation’s capital supporting reproductive rights.

This comes ahead of oral arguments to be heard in the Supreme Court in a case that will have a heavy impact on abortion rights for all Americans.

It is also on the heels of Florida lawmakers filing a bill in state legislature very similar to the anti-abortion bill passed in Texas.

“We feel it is not up to the government to indicate what the woman should do during pregnancy. It should be up to the women to make the individual decision what we are asking our state leaders is to provide a safe environment for women who wish to do so,” said Kissimmee resident Brenda Duplantis.

It is also about abortion access, and reproductive rights overall.

“The goal is really to, of course, mobilize the community, march, bring awareness to what’s happening…but also provide next steps as to how our community can engage in the movement and do their part,” said speaker Rebecca DeSir.

Women’s March Kissimmee is Saturday at 2 p.m. at the corner of John Young Parkway and Osceola Parkway.

Florida State Rep. Anna Eskamani is hosting a rally in Orlando that started at 11 a.m. outside City Hall.

There are members of the Orlando Police Department here monitoring the event, making sure it stays safe and orderly.
