Emily joined Spectrum News 13 as a general assignment reporter/multimedia journalist in May 2020. As a Central Florida native, she is thrilled to be home, reporting in the community where she grew up.

Emily believes that what makes this area so special is its diversity. She understands the value of being part of a community enriched with so many different cultures and residents from all backgrounds and walks of life. It’s from their experiences and encounters that Emily draws her inspiration, allowing her to create an added dimension to her storytelling and to connect with viewers.

Emily knows firsthand that meaningful change can come by giving people a voice. She once covered a case that involved a woman who said she'd been sexually assaulted in the back of an ambulance by an EMT. The woman was initially scared to speak out publicly, but Emily respectfully encouraged her to share her story by explaining that it might provide courage to other assault victims. After a change of heart and allowing an interview with Emily, the woman found it to be a healing experience for her and gratefully thanked Emily for her work. Additionally, the state attorney involved with the woman’s case also reached out to Emily to express her appreciation for the way she handled the story.

For Emily, the experience reinforced the vast impact that storytelling can make, not only to the people directly affected but to the viewers in the community.

Prior to joining the Spectrum News 13 team, Emily spent four years at WCIA 3 News in Champaign, Illinois as the weekend evening anchor, where she mastered valuable life skills that she hopes never to have to use again, such as driving in snow, scraping ice off of frozen windshields, and avoiding attacks by Canada geese.

Raised in Seminole County, Emily’s dream has always been to return to Central Florida as a reporter, where she can ride bikes with her dad, shop with her mom, and catch up with old friends. In her spare time, Emily also loves exploring new local towns and restaurants, partaking in group fitness classes, and sampling local craft beer.

Emily is also a proud University of Florida alumna (go Gators!) and member of Florida Blue Key.
