ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orlando Police Department confirmed on Thursday morning that the first homicide victim of the year for the City Beautiful is that of a 16-year-old boy.

Denim Williams, 16, was found with gunshot wounds at the 800 block of Polk Avenue near Jefferson Street in the Parramore community at around 11:44 a.m., Wednesday, by police, according to Sgt. Eduardo Bernal.

He later died from his wounds.

Community leaders are heartbroken.

"Paramore is a tight knit community where you have generations and generations of family members and friends so when there is a loss in Paramore we are all grieving," said Commissioner Regina Hill of District 5.

Police have interviewed several people and are not looking for anyone else involved in this incident.

At one point, it was reported that a man was discovered, but Bernal confirmed in an email on Thursday that it was a teenager that police found.
