ORLANDO, Fla. — Police are investigating the first fatal shooting in downtown Orlando of the year.

According to Public Information Officer Sgt. Eduardo Bernal, Orlando Police Department received a call at around 11:44 a.m. Wednesday about a shooting at the 800 block of Polk Street.

When police officers arrived to the scene, they found a man shot, who was later pronounced dead.

Officials have not identified the man fatally shot, but they say they are currently interviewing multiple people about the shooting.

Bernal said there is "no outstanding threat to the area."

Authorities stressed that it is not an officer-involved shooting, as there is a rumor that it was.
