Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro announced the name as well as other details about the new ship at Disney’s D23 Expo on Sunday.

“At the heart of every adventure, there’s a treasure, and we can’t wait for you to create memories aboard this spectacular new ship,” D’Amaro said.

The design of the Disney Treasure’s grand hall will be inspired by “a gilded palace” and draw inspiration from real places like Asia and Africa as well as fictional places like Agrabah.

And for the first time for a Disney cruise ship, the Disney Treasure’s grand hall statue will feature three characters: Aladdin, Jasmine and Magic Carpet from Disney’s 1992 animated film “Aladdin.”

Disney Treasure, which is the second of three Triton-class of ships for the cruise line, will begin sailing in 2024.

During the presentation, D’Amaro also shared a first look at Disney’s new destination in the Bahamas. Lighthouse Point, on the island of Eleuthera, will be the second port of call in the Bahamas after Disney’s private island Castaway Cay.

Disney is working with designers to create a destination that incorporates the local culture into the experiences. Lighthouse Point will feature dining and shopping locations as well as recreational activities.

D’Amaro added that 90% of Lighthouse Point will be powered by solar energy.
