MELBOURNE, Fla. — Missing Brevard County man Matthew Robineau, 21, whose body was found in the Indian River on Tuesday, died from drowning, according to the Melbourne Police Department.

Police said an autopsy conducted Wednesday showed Robineau’s cause of death was drowning, and that there are no signs of trauma or criminal activity, according to the Medical Examiner.

Robineau, of Indian Harbour Beach, was last seen in the early morning hours Sunday in downtown Melbourne. His father said he had been out with friends in downtown Melbourne on Saturday night.

Robineau’s body was found by a fisherman near the Melbourne Causeway on Tuesday afternoon, police say.

Authorities are awaiting the results of a pending toxicology report, as well as the final Medical Examiner report.
