BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Missing man Matthew Robineau, 21, was found dead Tuesday in the Indian River near Melbourne Causeway, according to Melbourne Police.

Robineau, of Indian Harbour Beach, was last seen in the early morning hours Sunday in downtown Melbourne. His father said he had been out with friends in downtown Melbourne on Saturday night.

His body was found by a fisherman on the north side of the Melbourne Causeway around 3 p.m, police say. Robineau's family has been informed of the discovery.

Police searched for Robineau with police canines, drones, and a boat team. The U.S. Coast Guard had also gone out and searched the area around the causeway.

Tuesday, using a special sonar camera, St. Lucie County deputies helped Melbourne Police search the Indian River waters near Geiger Point.

Robineau's father Dan received a 'pocket-dial' from his son, who didn't reach him when he called back. Using the 'Find My iPhone' app, he traced the phone to the area of the Melbourne Causeway, where some of Matthew's belongings were also found.

Melbourne Police are still looking for information on the circumstances surrounding Robineau's death.
