WINTER GARDEN, Fla. -- In this week's Traffic Inbox, we take a look at one Orange County intersection that residents say needs improvement.

Kevin Root wrote in this week:

"I live near the intersection of Tiny Road and Tilden Road.  As the area develops, nothing is done to improve the intersection.  There is not even a traffic light! Will anything be done here before a much more urgent issue arises?"

Root said the area near the intersection can be extremely dangerous.

"This road's unsafe because when they built this road and designed it, no one lived here," Root said. "There were no houses, no developments, no big trucks."

He also has the scars to prove it.  In March of 2015, Root was involved in a head-on collision on Tiny Road where witnesses said a vehicle going the wrong direction crossed over into his lane, trying to pass other vehicles.

"My life has been forever changed," he said. "I woke up in a hospital months later not remembering anything about my life!"

Root says there is a two year window of his life now that is missing. Now he just wants simple fixes like a traffic light at the intersection.

Will he get his wish?

Spectrum News 13 contacted Orange County government which maintains the intersection. There are plans to improve the intersection by installing a traffic signal and widening Tilden Road to accommodate new turn lanes.  The design is nearly done and construction should start by December of next year.

Root says that change can't come fast enough.

"I hate saying this but unfortunately something bad is going to happen," he said.  "Because you can only have so many near-misses before something happens."
