SANFORD, Fla. — Three schools in the Midway area of Sanford that were closed Wednesday due to a water main break will reopen Thursday.

Seminole County Public Schools says classes and activities at Millennium Middle School, Midway Elementary and Midway Safe Harbor will resume as usual.

The City of Sanford confirmed that the issues affecting campuses have been resolved, a school district spokesperson said.

At this time, the Midway area remains under a boil water notice until further notice.

Bottled water will be available on the campuses for drinking and cooking, the school district said. Water fountains will remain turned off at affected schools until the boil water notice is lifted.

The map below demonstrates the boundaries of the impacted area.

Customers still affected by the boil water notice live at the northeast corner of State Road 46 (extended Midway area); from the west side of Millennium Middle School to E. Lake Mary Boulevard going north to Celery Avenue from Sipes Avenue to E. Lake Mary Boulevard, including Chickasaw Drive and Powhatan Drive. It continues along E. 20th Street from Brisson Avenue to Sipes Avenue and includes Don Knight Lane.

Affected residents should boil all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing fruits/vegetables and dishes prior to use. Heat the water to a constant, rolling boil for at least one minute, or use bottled water. The water is safe for bathing, laundering, and other non-consumptive uses.
