One new law, SB 256, bans teachers unions from automatically taking union dues out of their members' paychecks. Teachers will now have to do it voluntarily.

DeSantis also signed HB 379, which gives teachers more control over how students use devices and social media at school. TikTok will not be allowed on district servers or WiFi.

Another law, HB 477, puts stricter term limits on school members. Eight years will now be the maximum.

DeSantis also signed CS/HB 1537, which allows students to take a different test than the SAT or ACT to qualify for Bright Futures scholarships.

The governor also said he is going through the budget lawmakers passed. He can veto individual items, but says he will approve more than $1 billion earmarked for teacher pay.
