DELAND, Fla. – Amid the war in Ukraine, Stetson University has taken in a Ukrainian professor and four Ukrainian students so they can continue their studies safely.

Their stay and studies are part of the Stetson Ukraine Initiative, a philanthropic campaign to sponsor students and faculty displaced by the war.

“I really have faith and belief in my country,” said one of the students in the initiative, Yana Verbova. “I hope that we will endure everything and when I return back, we will celebrate our victory.”
