MAITLAND, Fla. — A 2-alarm fire broke out at the abandoned Maitland Summit Charter School Saturday morning, according to officials.
Maitland Fire Chief Will Watts says the fire started at about 11:30 a.m., and at 1 p.m. it was still fully involved.
About 40 firefighters are battling a fire at an abandoned school in Maitland. Maitland's Fire Chief says fire started around 11am at what was the Maitland Summit Charter School, near the 414 and 1792 interchange.@MyNews13 has a crew on the scene

The abandoned and uninhabited building is near the SR 414 and U.S. 17/92 interchange.
The 2-alarm fire had about 50 firefighters fighting it from Mairland Fire Rescue, Winter Park Fire Rescue, and departments from Orange and Seminole counties, including the use of an aerial fire truck and a water gun, officials said.
They say there is no apparent cause for the fire at this point, and that the State Fire Marshal will investigate it.
