Melbourne Northrop Grumman employees took to the streets Friday in the name of a clean environment.

Some 15 engineers scoured NASA Boulevard outside their facility picking up trash on their section of the Keep Brevard Beautiful adopted roadway. They are still celebrating Earth Day, which was last Friday.

All of them used their day off from work to spend time giving back for the monthly clean up.

"We're piggybacking off Earth Day, and to support our sustainability goals we set for our company," said Northrop Grumman engineer Brock Dewerff.

Part of the company's sustainability goals at their Melbourne campus include planting nearly 1,200 hardwood trees, 600 palm trees and 4,600 shrubs, plus using reclaimed water to water grass.
