BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – An 87-year-old Brevard County woman who was reported missing over the weekend was found safe in Lake County on Monday by a Florida Highway Patrol trooper.

Marilyn Brown became the subject of a Florida Silver Alert after her family reported her missing from Indian Harbour Beach.

She was last seen near South Patrick Drive in a black 2004 black Pontiac Sunfire.

After law enforcement spent the weekend looking for her, she was found near Howey-in-the-Hills on the Florida Turnpike by Peter Hooker, a FHP trooper.

Hooker received an alert early Monday that Brown’s vehicle was traveling south on State Road 91. According to an FHP report, Hooker stationed himself a few miles ahead to wait for Brown’s car to pass by.

After spotting Brown’s vehicle, Hooker conducted a traffic stop, getting Brown to pull over at a Circle K gas station. Brown was lost but otherwise OK, according to Hooker’s report.

Hooker contacted the Indian Harbour Beach Police Department, which contacted Brown’s family. Her son, along with other members of her family, arrived to take her home.
