Two major hospitals are partnering with Osceola County Schools, to promote healthy habits on wheels.

AdventHealth and Orlando Health donated $50,000 towards Osceola County’s SMART and READ buses.

Every time a child hops on, they get homework help and a healthy eating lesson that includes tracking their height, weight and B-M-I. They even get a new book and a healthy snack pack to take home.

The Osceola County School District said 74 percent of their kids are at or below the poverty level.

Dr. Tolu Adebanjo a Pediatrician and Preventative Medicine Physician for Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital said, “When we look at toxic stress, providing supportive environments is a key protective factor. So this bus is a great way to provide support to families who are dealing with a lot of adverse conditions.”
