Festival organizers were forced to postpone the event earlier this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. But with new dates set, the festival is moving ahead with a lineup that include feature-length films and assorted short films.

From August 7 through August 20, the festival will showcase 177 films from 37 countries. The opening night film will be “Surviving Supercon” directed by Steven Shea. Other films on the lineup include the Sundance Film Festival award-winning film “Boys State” and “The Perfect Candidate.”

A total of 88 women filmmakers are included in this year’s lineup, the most ever in the festival’s 29-year history, according to organizers.

In addition to the in-person event, the Florida Film Festival will have a virtual portion August 8-20. The digital addition will give film lovers access to over 150 films they can stream from home.  A film guide for the virtual festival has been released and includes feature films, shorts and documentaries like “Jimmy Carter: Rock & Roll President.”

“We are extremely proud to have the opportunity to present these artists’ extraordinary work on both the big screen at Enzian and, for the first time, virtually as well wherever possible,” Florida Film Festival programming director Matthew Curtis said in a news release.

Tickets for the in-person festival are now on sale and can be purchased at floridafilmfestival.com. Passes for the virtual festival are also on sale and cost $40. Passes can be purchased here.
