APOPKA, Fla. — An early Monday-morning shooting leaves a male dead in Apopka, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

At around 5:35 a.m., deputies arrived at the area of East 15th Street and South Central Avenue, responding to a call of aggravated battery, according to the Sheriff's Office in a news statement.

Deputies discovered a male — age and identity not given — with a gunshot wound.

The person was taken to AdventHealth Apopka, where he was pronounced dead, according to deputies.

No suspect information was released by the Sheriff's Office and the investigation is ongoing.
