ORLANDO, Fla. — We’ve been basking in a sun-filled sky and watching temps climb well into the 70s and lower 80s this afternoon.

A large area of high pressure continues to dominate our pattern and will remain in place through Friday. This keeps us rain-free, provides patchy areas of early morning fog, then warms us above average under a mostly sunny sky the next few days.

Enjoy plenty of sun and a few high clouds Thursday and Friday, as we heat up a good six to nine degrees above where we should be for highs in early February.

Forecast models have been pretty consistent with a weak cold front sliding into the state and stalling somewhere near the I-4 corridor this weekend.

An onshore flow kicks in and winds increase both Saturday and Sunday, especially along the coast. Enough moisture in the area will lead to a few hit and miss showers moving quickly off the Atlantic, although coverage is only 20 to 30-percent at this time.

More clouds will also help to keep our temperatures down a bit, but still close to seasonable levels in the lower 70s.

The front lifts back early next week, with an isolated shower threat Monday. Highs for the first half of next week warm in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Right now, it looks like another front approaches late next week.

SURF FORECAST

Waves were once again fairly decent earlier this morning, but as the northeast to easterly swell mix slowly eases, our two to three foot waves weren’t as exciting this afternoon.

Poor to fair conditions are in the surfcast Thursday too, with wave heights down to around one to two feet, and the swell mix fading away. Building seas and surf are in the forecast this weekend, and wave heights are expected to come back up. A moderate rip current threat still exists the next couple days.
