OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Emily Thomas is not just an honor-roll student at Hickory Tree Elementary — she’s also the youngest dancer from Central Florida to qualify for the An Comhdháil World Championship.

  • Emily has been dancing for more than 2 years

This is one of the biggest Irish dance championships in the world.

At just 9 years old, Emily is part of the school Central Florida Irish Dancers, she’s been dancing for more than two years.

“I am really proud that I pushed through and that I got up to here,” Emily said.

She has her room filled with trophies. Her mother Michele Thomas said her daughter has flown up the ranks in the competitions and went from a complete beginner to champion in a year.

“Every time she gets on that stage, I am blown away … She just glides across that stage,” Michele said. “I am just amazed at everything she can do.”

This month Emily submitted official paperwork to represent Central Florida in Ireland next April, something Emily has always dreamt of.

“I think it's going to be amazing, because I’ve always wanted to go to Ireland, and I am really glad that my dream came true,” Emily added.
