Melbourne police have charged the man arrested for stealing Leah Yoresh's car with her murder.

Matthew James Sharp, 22, was charged with first-degree murder Friday.

He was originally taken into custody last month for stealing her car.

Investigators said evidence found at the crime scene connected Sharp to the murder.  They said they found blood on his shoes that matched that of Yoresh, and was confirmed with DNA testing.

Police said Sharp also tried to use Yoresh's credit cards to buy gas, food, video games and TV from different stores.

Investigators are not saying how Yoresh died as they continue the investigation.
