During the soft opening, which started Saturday, visitors were able to enter the experience for the first time.

The attraction centers around Villain-Con, the fictional supervillain convention from the “Minions” films. While there visitors will compete to see if they have what it takes to be a member of the Vicious 6.

The queue is both indoor and outdoor, with the outdoor portion featuring banners and promotion signs for the convention. Inside, visitors will find a trade show floor filled with gadgets and spaces for vendors. There’s also a details convention map.

From there, visitors will pick up a blaster called the E-Liminator X, which features two triggers and a display that tracks their score.

Once they have their blaster, visitors will be assigned a spot on the moving pathway and are to remain on that spot (no walking up and down) during the experience. If they step off from the spot, the blast will display a warning message and temporarily stop functioning.

The pathway moves visitors through different scenes that are themed after different villains. The scenes include physical props and screens, which features different targets like boxes that will earn visitors points. Minion characters are seen throughout

The last scene features Universal Orlando spots, including the Universal globe and the Islands of Adventure lighthouse.

Since Minion Blast is in technical rehearsals, not all features were operational. Visitors will eventually be able to sync their blasters to the Universal Orlando app and unlock other features in the attraction, including more powers and special missions.

Villain-Con Minion Blast will officially open sometime this summer. No official opening date has been announced.
