“As we continue our 36-year legacy of spreading joy, optimism & hope to critically ill children & their families, we are excited to share that GKTW Village is back to operating at full capacity,” the nonprofit organization posted on its Facebook page.

The resort reopened in a limited capacity to wish families in January 2021 after a nearly 10-month closure.

Now that it has returned to capacity, Give Kids the World Village said it will end its holiday event, Night of a Million Lights, as it focuses on its mission of creating life-changing experiences for wish families.

“We are grateful to all the volunteers, partners, guests, donors & community members who made the event possible, & whose support will enable us to fulfill countless wishes,” the post read.

Night of a Million Lights debuted in 2020 when the resort was closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. For the event, the homes in the village were transformed with thousands of lights and holiday decorations. Guided tram tours and a dancing light show were some of the offerings added to the event in its second year.

The event helped raise money for the nonprofit to use for wish vacations.

Give Kids the World Village officials said there are new events planned and that details will be shared in the coming months.
