The Volusia County school board approved a contract Tuesday that will include teacher pay raises.

The district and the teachers' union came up with the deal two weeks ago.

Teachers will keep the current health insurance they have now. The district had threatened to come up with a new formula, but that was scratched by the school board.

Under the agreement, teachers will have to pay a bit more for dental insurance.

However, all teachers will get a 2.8 percent pay raise.

Teachers approved the contract Monday before it went to the school board for final approval.

The raises for teachers could start next month.
