The ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary and today to continue the festivities they officially unveiled their newest structure. Fittingly named The Arena.

The 8,000 seat arena received it’s dedication this afternoon, complete with a cheerleading routine featuring Minnie Mouse and a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The new venue is one of the largest arenas in the country specifically designed with cheerleading and dance competitions in mind, fitting since the College Cheerleading and Dance National Championships will be the first event held inside kicking off tonight. The Arena can also host basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, wrestling, and will even play a part in the Pro Bowl later this month.

"During the Pro Bowl we’re doing the Madden gaming tournament right inside here," VP of Disney Sports Faron Kelley said.

"So one of our first gaming events goes right along with the Pro Bowl. This venue is 300,000 square feet, 8,000 seats, but it can be broken into four quadrants. So if we want a smaller area we can have that which seats just 2,000, but we can also have four events going on at once, each with 2,000. So that was the goal, to make it as flexible as possible but when you need to raise the curtains and have one big space we can do that here."
