The top high school baseball teams in Central Florida, as selected by the Spectrum Sports staff:

1. Timber Creek (25-7) – Wolves got outstanding pitching performances from Bret Neilan and Preston Schumacher at the state tournament to win the school’s first baseball state championship.

2. Orange City University (25-7) – Logan Allen finished his masterful career with a no-hitter in the state semifinals, but the Titans couldn’t generate any offense in the 9A title game and finished state runner-up for the second time in three seasons.  

3. West Orange (26-4) – A 2-0 loss to Orange City University in the 9A region finals kept the Warriors from making back-to-back trips to the state tournament.

4. Eau Gallie (26-4) – One of the best seasons in program history ended with a 3-0 loss to eventual 6A state champ Archbishop McCarthy in the regional final.

5. Merritt Island (22-7) – Mustangs closed the regular season with 12 consecutive wins, but lost to Eau Gallie in both the district final and the region semifinals.

6. First Academy (23-5) – Undefeated 4A state champ Clearwater Calvary Christian knocked out the Royals 3-2 in the regional championship game.  

7. Hagerty (22-9) – Huskies reached the 8A state championship game for the second consecutive season but failed to come through with key hits against Tallahassee Lincoln in Saturday’s game.

8. Bishop Moore (21-11) – Tulane signee Josh Bates pitched the Hornets into the 5A state championship, but they allowed five runs in the first inning against Jacksonville Bolles and never recovered.  

9. Lake Brantley (21-8) – With six returning starters and a young, talented pitching staff, Patriots are set up to be one of the area’s elite teams in 2018.

10. DeLand (18-10) – Senior laden Bulldogs topped Orange City University for the 9A, District 2 title but stumbled in a first round regional game against Jacksonville Mandarin.
