Hands-on STEM learning took place in Viera Thursday as part of the L3Harris STEM Challenge.

What You Need To Know

  • L3Harris has partnered with local schools to help students learn STEM

  • The L3Harris STEM Challenge is geared toward helping students think critically, among other skills

  • L3Harris made the program possible with a $75,000 grant

“In different parts of an equation I’ve learned I can impact the answer,” says Johnson Middle School eighth grader Rayne Millich, who wants to be an architect someday.

She, along with dozens of other seventh and eighth graders, learned how to communicate, think critically, collaborate and code through STEM projects at the L3Harris STEM Challenge.

“We can’t imprint in the kids what to think, but we can give them those opportunities to make those light bulbs happen,” said Brevard County Public Schools teacher technology integration specialist Michelle Marshall.

Along with L3Harris, which made the challenge possible with a $75,000 grant, other partners included the Brevard Schools Foundation and Brevard County Public Schools.
