MELBOURNE, Fla. — Law enforcement officials are searching the Melbourne area right now for a missing man who has not been seen early Sunday morning.

  • Matthew Robineau, 21, last seen in downtown Melbourne
  • Father found items belonging to Robineau by the causeway
  • Police searching with canines, boat team

Officers searched the water around the Melbourne Causeway Monday morning, searching for Matthew Robineau, 21. Robineau's father said he had been out with friends in downtown Melbourne Saturday night.

Robineau's father said he last received a "pocket dial" from his son around 2 a.m., but when he called him back there was no answer. He used the "Find My Iphone" app and tracked the phone down to an area by the causeway, where he found other items besides the phone, but not Robineau himself.

Officers say they were able to verify through interviews that Robineau was seen at several businesses along New Haven Avenue. Around 1 a.m. he was last seen walking east New Haven Avenue near the railroad tracks.

Police say they've searched with police canines, drones, and a boat team. The U.S. Coast Guard has also gone out and searched the area around the causeway.

If you know anything, you are asked to call Melbourne Police at 321-608-6453.
