"He's in a lot of pain, and I think it's from the edema because his foot is really big and hot and tight," said Kyden’s mother, Amber Debyah.

Kyden was playing in his backyard Monday in Weeki Wachee when he says it felt like a mosquito bit him.

Instead, his parents say it was an 18-inch venomous pygmy rattle snake.

"Luckily only one fang got him because if it had been two, I can't imagine how much worse it would've been," the mother said.

At $11,000 a vial, she said the antivenin treatment is not covered under their medical insurance.

"He's had 16 vials. (Doctors) said some people have to do anywhere between 40 and 80," she said.

Kyden's parents hope a YouCaring site they started can help with those costs.

"We're not the type of people that would ask for handouts like that, but when it comes to your kid, you just don't know what else to do," said Debyah.

Now, all they can do is wait.

"He can't go home until the swelling goes down, and the swelling is not going down, unfortunately," said Debyah.
