ORLANDO, Fla. — Crews are closely watching I-4 to make sure there are no flooding issues from the heavy rain that was forecasted to move through Central Florida Friday night.

FDOT says contractors working on the I-4 Ultimate construction have designated crews to monitor the interstate and respond quickly to any water collecting on the roadway.

Back in March and again in May, water covered several lanes of I-4 where construction was going on.

Drivers say when that happens, they get off I-4 and take side roads.

“If it gets flooded I’ll go local, and then I’ll try to get in again at another I-4 exit,” said Yoanny Beriguette.

FDOT says it can assess damages to I-4 Ultimate contractors if flooding causes lane closures, which it has done during flooding earlier this year.
