OCALA, Fla. — Ocala firefighters now have new technology that should help them put out fires faster.

  • Ocala firefighters train on new firefighting vehicle
  • New vehicle will replace old one that dates to 1997

Crews are now using a new Aircraft Firefighting Vehicle to train for potential fire emergencies.

The training conducted last week included drills in which firefighters familiarized themselves with the nozzles, preconnected hose lines and other functions of the vehicle.

Firefighters said the new modern operating system will make their job much easier.

The new firefighting vehicle will replace the department's current airport firefighting apparatus, which has been in service since 1997.
