A College World Series title is within Florida’s grasp. The Gators in the best of 3 series for the first time since 2011, only the third time in school history.

Last season UF came up far short, going 0-2 in Omaha. Out fast, the Gators then lost eight players to the first ten rounds of the MLB Draft. Let’s just say, they weren’t exactly a hot pick to be playing for it all this June. But Coach Kevin O’Sullivan swears he always knew what he had.

“To be honest with you I did. I had the feeling early on if we stayed healthy, that we had the ingredients to be successful out here,” said O’Sullivan.  “For whatever reason we’ve ended up on the winning end a lot of times and it hasn’t been pretty, it’s been ugly at times, but we’ve just found a way.”

Florida taking on Co-SEC regular season title winners, the LSU Tigers in the best of 3 series, a team they beat twice already this regular season. That might sound like a promising fact, but to the Gators, it means nothing.

“I think we are both better than we were in the regular season,” explained sophomore pitcher Brady Singer. “Their offense is really good, our offense is coming around and we both can pitch. But I think we are both hot right now.”

Two games, maybe three, and the Gators could be crowned College World Series champs for the first time in school history.
