The top girls basketball teams in Central Florida, as selected by the Spectrum Sports staff:

1. Jones (14-4) – Chardell Jones scored 28 points as the Tigers knocked off previous No. 1 Lake Highland 62-56 in overtime to push their winning streak to 10 games.

2. Lake Highland (13-6) – Highlanders were without leading scorer Tyra Cox in losses to Jones and Bishop Moore.  

3. Leesburg (17-3) – Keshawn Johnson has scored 25 or more points in three of the last four games for the Yellow Jackets, who topped Spruce Creek in overtime on Saturday.

4. Bishop Moore (18-3) – Hornets, winners of 12 straight games, will meet Colonial at 8pm Saturday in the final game of the Spectrum Sports Showcase.

5. West Orange (13-4) – Warriors are one of the area’s top defensive teams in the area, allowing opponents to score just 42.6 points per game.  

6. Ocoee (15-5) – Guard Dynasty Carter has scored 109 points in the last four games as the Knights continue to roll through Metro Conference opponents.   

7. Spruce Creek (14-8) – The last three losses for the Hawks have all come in overtime, including Saturday’s 57-50 defeat at the hands of Leesburg.  

8. Winter Springs (18-2) – Stetson signee Shania Meertens is on the verge of supplanting Jen Forst as the program’s all-time leading scorer.

9. Wekiva (13-7) – Mustangs jump into the top-10 on the heels of victories against Apopka and Edgewater.

10. Oviedo (15-4) – Lions have won nine consecutive games, including a narrow 56-54 over Colonial at Saturday’s Think Pink Classic at University.
