Georgia “Juju” Brown and Timmy Chapman skate upwards of five hours a day together, perfecting their skills as a pair.

Only 14 and 16 years old respectively, the two have dedicated their lives to the sport, one they fell in love with long ago. “The day I stepped on the ice, I was like I love this sport so much,” laughed Juju.

And now all that hard work and love of the sport is paying off, qualifying for next week’s US National Figure Skating Championships. The two will compete against 11 other pairs in the intermediate level.

“We have been working so hard everyday, I think the work will pay off,” said Timmy. “We are peaking at the right moment and I think we are ready. I really do think we are ready.”

The last few months have been a whirlwind. The couple was formed just six months ago in August, and the turnaround from first pairing to qualifying for Nationals, is a jump that is nearly unheard of in the skating community.

“The fact that they have been together only since August is unreal that they have made it this far and have the elements in their program that they do,’ said pairs skating coach Cheyne Coppage. “So we are really excited about what is coming up.”

The Championships run from January 14-22 in Kansas City, Missouri.
