U.S. Olympian Marvin Bracy spent Monday afternoon hanging with Orlando mayor Buddy Dyer.

The mayor and city council celebrated the Boone grad by proclaiming Monday as Marvin Bracy Day.

“It’s one thing to live it but it’s really nice to hear it and not even in a boastful manner," Bracy said. "It’s just really nice to hear all your hard work and dedication that you put into this sport and just life period is paying off.”

Bracy, who won multiple state titles at Boone and played football at Florida State took third place in the 100 meters at the U.S. Olympic Trials to earn a trip to Rio. He clocked in at 9.98 seconds, finishing behind Justin Gatlin and Trayvon Bromell.
