The #3 seed Lake Nona Lions won the Class 9A-District 4 championship in thrilling fashion over the #1 seed Boone Braves Thursday night at Winter Park High School on BHSN Game of the Week.

It took 5 sets as the Lions beat the Braves 3-2 (25-20, 20-25, 25-15, 23-25, 15-8) in front of a packed house in a neutral site.

Lake Nona’s senior dynamic duo of OH Leslie Seda (22 kils, 2 aces) and MB Karina Pressoir (20 kills, 6 blocks) paced the Lions in the district final. Pressoir, who is also on the Lions basketball and Track and Field teams, is being recruited by Chowan University in North Carolina.

The Braves were led by OH Erin Carter who had 26 kills, 16 digs and 1 ace in the losing effort. Carter came in to the match having the 8th most kills in the state of Florida (355). Carter is expected to shatter Boone’s all-time career kills record. Braves senior RS Sydney Ritten added 13 kills.

Lake Nona (13-8) will now host Apopka, and Boone (16-9) will travel to West Orange to play in the region quarterfinals.
