Paige Hamilton is swimming her senior season at Lake Highland Prep, with high hopes to make a splash.

The senior captain was unstoppable in the Patriot Invitational last weekend, winning both the 50 free and 100 fly, as well as swimming the lead in both the 200 and 400 relays.

“I had a lot of fun competing with all the girls on my team; we have a lot of fun getting each other pumped up for all of the swims. It was a lot of fun to go out there and do our best, which happened to be very good,” said Paige.

The wins all thanks to the amount of laps put in during practice. The swimmers going back and forth in the pool at the Highlander Aquatics center, swimming hundreds of laps a day.

“We definitely have been putting in a lot of training, looking towards our championship meet. So it was fun to see where we are right now and it is definitely putting us in a good spot for the end of the season,” said Hamilton.

Coach Mike Curley sees no reason why, come the end of the season, Paige couldn’t be competing for a state championship.

“Is she going to be in the mix, yes. If we pick the right events, yes. And if we hit things right, she should be right in the mix of everything, yes,” said Coach Curley.

With every stroke Paige gets closer to her dream of competing in college, testing the water at schools like Notre Dame and Vanderbilt.

Just one year of high school swimming left.
