Rays owner Stu Sternberg says he's still enjoying running the franchise.

I asked Sternberg if he's still as confident that Major League Baseball can work here.

"I'm not as confident," Sternberg said. " I think it would be disingenuous to say. "We came here 10 years ago, purchased it almost 12, 12 and a half years ago-at that time- we thought and everybody else said the same thing, just win and they'll show up."

Stu told me he is encouraged that kids that were 5-12 years old when they bought the Devil Rays are now in their teens and early 20's and all they know is the Rays.

Sternberg also reiterates to me he will never move the Rays out of Tampa Bay, but as he's said before he could sell the team.

I stress though, he's not looking at selling, right now.

He believes new skipper Kevin Cash will be a much better manager three to four years down the road.

Sternberg says new baseball boss Matt Silverman is surrounded by good baseball guys and will be more of a facilitator than the guy he replaced,

Now to the Rays future.

Rock Notes: Former Rays owner Vince Naimoli threw out the first pitch. Naimoli was joined by his daughter Dr. Lindsey, who's a veterinarian. It's the Rays 20th anniversary.

Wonder if the Rays will be here another 20.
