It was a storybook ending for Lake Highland Prep as they defeated Dunbar in overtime in the Class 4A State Championship game Wednesday night, 68-62.

The Highlanders trailed by as many as nine in the second quarter and came up big when UNC signee Destinee Walker hit a three from 25 feet out to tie things up at 57 to force overtime.

LHP junior guard Jordan Lewis opened the extra minutes with an iso floater to give her team the lead the rest of the way.

Lewis went on to score the rest of the team’s 11 overtime points from the free throw line and seal the 4A crown.

Walker finished with a team high 34 points with Lewis netting 23 and pulling down 16 rebounds.

This is the second state basketball title for the Lake Highland Prep girls basketball program.
