Walk through Vintage Post Marketplace in Seminole Heights, and see it has a little bit of everything.

"We have all sorts of items that you are not gonna see anywhere else," said Russell Treadway, one of the store’s managers.

Mexican Devil Masks?

Check.

Vintage Candy Cane Tumblers?

Got ‘em!

Antique stain glass windows?

Yes!

Where do they get all these goods?

"We pretty much do it every way you can think of,” said Treadway, “We buy estates, garage sale-ing, we have consigners, local vendors, we have local artists that hand-paint stuff, hand-make stuff, bring it in."

They are like curators of consignment.

No matter what the era -- from mid-century modern furniture to whatever era you call their miniature pony-sized wooden-carved octopus -- they are picky about what they place in their store.

“The things you find here are going to be either higher-end things or older things that were made a little bit better than the stuff you find today," Treadway explained. "You are going to pay the same price or a little bit less, but get real wood versus particle board."

We found a like-new black ornate metal floor lamp for $74.99. Check out Pier One or Macy’s or Target metal floor lamps and you’ll see the same or lower prices.

Now, the next piece I describe I could not find a comparable item to compare prices: It’s a wooden-carved foot with longish toes—"finger-toes" if your will.

Sorry if you thought it might be perfect for someone on your Christmas gift list -- I bought it immediately.

Unique, eclectic and cost-conscious choices aren't the only reasons to check out a place like Vintage Post Marketplace.

"I like to support the local people," Treadway said. "You know, these are your neighbors and stuff like that that you are giving your money to, than someone that is located somewhere else."

Keeping money local -- one funky finger-toe wooden sculpture at a time.
