Police said Friday the items found at Titusville High School that forced an evacuation were left behind by an earlier school project.

The incident happened at the high school Thursday morning, and it shut down area roadways.

The two devices were actually from a project by the school robotics team, Titusville police said.

"While highly concerning, there was no criminal intent in this incident," said the police department on Twitter.

Authorities said the devices were "makeshift missiles" to shoot out of an air-cannon -- similar to devices that shoot out T-shirts at sporting events.

"School administration will be handling the issue, which caused a considerable disruption. No criminal charges are expected at this point," police said in an email to media outlets.
