- Internal investigation was launched last year
- She's accused of submitting false work hours
Officer Laurin Gantt was charged with scheme to defraud and grand theft on Friday, according to Sgt. Eduardo Bernal in a news release.
Gantt, who has been with the patrol division since 2012, has been relieved of duty with pay, which is standard procedure, Bernal said.
According to a charging affidavit, an internal investigation was launched when a supervisor suspected Gantt was clocking in and out for time not worked. The suspicious entries into the electronic clock-in system happened in the middle of 2017, and there were other suspicious swipes of her access card, the affidavit said.
The case is being prosecuted by the Ninth Judicial Circuit.
