Tropical Storm Franklin has formed in the western Caribbean and will move toward Mexico and Belize over the next 48 hours.

Franklin formed Sunday night, upgraded from Potential Tropical Cyclone Seven.

Franklin has winds of 40 mph. It is located about 380 miles miles east-southeast of Chetumal, Mexico

Tropical Storm Warnings continue for much of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico.

Tropical Storm Watches are also in effect for portions of Belize and southern sections of the Yucatan.

Franklin is expected to remain a tropical storm and push into the Yucatan late Monday night or early Tuesday morning. The system will likely remain a tropical storm and then move into the Bay of Campeche, where further development could occur.

The complex is the sixth named storm in the Atlantic basin this year.

The system will not impact Florida and will likely stay well south of the United States.
