We woke up Wednesday morning to a lot more sunshine than what we’ve seen the past few days.

Drier air moved in and allowed for not only plenty of sunshine, but also low rain chances. We’ll stay pretty dry for Thursday before ramping rain chances back up heading into the weekend. Temperatures made it into the mid to low 90s Wednesday afternoon and will remain hot and humid through the weekend.

Mostly clear skies are in the forecast through the overnight hours. Temperatures will be warm and muggy, falling into the mid to upper 70s.

Thursday will once again hold plenty of sunshine with only a few showers and storms possible through the afternoon. The sun, plus winds from the south, will warm temperatures up quickly into the 90s. Some areas will reach the mid-90s with humidity making it feel more like triple digits. Rain chances will increase back up for Friday and into the start of the weekend. For now, it looks like Labor Day will be hot with only a few showers and storms possible.

In the tropics, Harvey made a second landfall early Wednesday morning. The storm was downgraded to a tropical depression, although heavy rain still falls over the lower Mississippi Valley.

We also had our ninth named storm of the season form near the Cabo Verde Islands well out in the Atlantic. Tropical Storm Irma will remain in favorable conditions for development over the next few days and could intensify into a hurricane Thursday. At this point, there is no cause for concern with this storm over a week away. It is something to watch and now would be a good idea to think about your storm plan. We are approaching the peak of hurricane season and the tropics look to stay pretty active.
