SeaWorld aquarist Gretchen Scrimger and her Discovery Cove team are letting you go where you've probably never gone before.

  • New Discovery Cove encounter lets guests swim with sharks
  • SeaWorld hopes to dispel myths, fears about sea creatures
  • Park also will debut ray feeding experience

The park's new "Shark Swim" experience lets guests swim freely among five types of sharks: Pacific blacktip, reef whitetip, nurse shark, zebra shark and spotted wobbegong.

So don't worry — you won't see a great white.

"One of the biggest misconceptions about sharks is that they're dangerous. Some are very docile," Scrimger said.

With the new encounter, the park hopes to dispel myths about sharks and inspire guests to learn more about the sea creatures.

It's exclusive — Discovery Cove is allowing just six guests a day to experience it.

In addition to the Shark Swim, the park also has debuted a ray feeding experience.

The Shark Swim is $85 per person for guests 10 and older and requires a Dolphin Swim or Day Resort reservation at Discovery Cove to participate.

And beginning Aug. 1 through the end of the year, Florida residents who book a day at Discovery Cove can also get admission to SeaWorld and Aquatica.
