The Florida Film Festival, a Central Florida tradition, returns next month with 182 films in the lineup.

  • Florida Film Fest: April 21-30
  • 182 films in 10 days
  • Celebrity guests: Billy Crudup, Davide Zucker and Rober Hays

Of those films, 55 are features and 127 are shorts.

The annual event will showcase 76 films by female filmmakers — a festival record for the festival — as well as 35 films with Florida connections, according to the lineup announced Wednesday.

Now in its 26th year, runs April 21-30 at the Enzian Theater in Maitland and the Regal Winter Park Village Stadium.

With so many films to watch in just 10 days, the theme of this year's festival is "Binge Responsibly."

The festival will bring writer-director David Zucker and actor Robert Hays for a tribute screening of the 1980 comedy “Airplane.” That event will be held April 29.

Actor Billy Crudup (“Almost Famous,” “Big Fish,” “Spotlight”) will also be a festival guest for a screening of “Jesus’ Son.”

Actress AnnaLynne McCord will be attendance for the Southeast premiere of "68 Kill" on April 28.

Festival organizers said another celebrity would be announced later.

“The Hero,” a comedy-drama starring Sam Elliott, Krysten Ritter, Nick Offerman and Laura Prepon, will kick off the festival.

Other feature films include “Colossal,” a science-fiction comedy about a woman (Oscar winner Anne Hathaway) who realizes catastrophic events are related to her mental breakdown; “Manifesto,” starring Oscar winner Cate Blanchett as 13 different characters; and “The Exception” a World War II drama with Christopher Plummer and Lily James.

The lineup also includes several films about social justice and human rights, such as “8 Borders, 8 Days” and “For Ahkeem.”

For local flavor, “Florida Shorts: Best of Brouhaha” features 13 works by filmmakers from the University of Central Florida, Full Sail University and other Florida schools. The lineup also includes three Florida-themed documentaries.

In addition to the screenings, there will be free forums including one called “Indie Women: Grab ‘em by the Movies” that will offer insight into female filmmakers’ progress in the studio system.

The festival will conclude with a retro night screening of Russ Meyer’s “Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!”
