People pack into Adobe Gila’s Monday night at Pointe Orlando as a band plays.

The crowd was bigger than usual because the evening is more than just a night on the town for people. It is a fundraiser for a friend and colleague.

"Every time I worked, and we built that relationship, he trusts me and I trust him," said Marvin Yeagins, former security guard.

Almost everyone in attendance came to show support for Tom Threatt, a Pointe Orlando parking attendant.

Threatt, 57, is now in the hospital after being hit and pinned by a driver on Feb. 12, as he worked.

“I actually seen the car reverse, and actually hit him," said Yeagins. “Then I went over to the person that hit him, and turned off their car and got them out of the car.”

The 32-year-old driver, Anali Condori, was arrested for DUI that night, while Threatt was rushed to the hospital.

Now more than a month later, Threatt still is unable to walk or even sit up on his own. Threatt's injuries are so severe that doctors said he will not get out of the hospital until August. And even then, he will have many more months of rehabilitation.

It is unknown if Threatt will ever walk again.

“The best that we were able to do as far at his therapy, and this was on Saturday, was to get him to this point," said Rick Perez, pointing to a cell phone picture of Threatt. "He actually stood up, 80 percent of it was on his own.”

Perez is a close friend and colleague of Threatt. The two have worked together for years.

“He was like a fixture here for over, like, 10 years," said Perez.

The fundraiser was Perez's idea. He organized it to help pay for Threatt's growing medical bills. Perez said it was not hard to find people to help.

"Everyone that is on the property that has participated is on here,” said Perez as he help up a shirt with Pointe Orlando shop names on it.

“We look out for each other, especially because we work close together," said Yeagins.

Threatt just started talking again about a week ago and was shocked when he found out about the fundraiser.

“He was convinced that nobody knew him, nobody cared about him, so when he found out about the event he was touched," said Perez.

In total, a few hundred people showed up Monday to support their friend and colleague.

“He wanted to do a video to thank everybody, but the past two days, with physical therapy he has just been wiped out," said Perez.

Condori is currently out on a $5,000 bond, a fact that bother’s Threatt and his friends.

“He is an eyelash away from dying and he is like, ‘How did she walk? How is she out there walking, and I am stuck in this bed?’ That is what he says over and over again," said Perez.

Condori pled not guilty and will have a pretrial conference on April 6.
